City selects new finance director
The City and Borough of Juneau announced Wednesday that current treasurer Angie Flick will replace Jeff Rogers as the city’s next finance director. Flick is scheduled to begin her new position Monday and will learn the ropes alongside Rogers until his departure at the end of June. Flick has worked as the city’s treasurer since February of last year, having moved back to Juneau a few decades after graduating from Juneau-Douglas High School: Yadaa.at Kalé. Sea lion found in King Harbor Yacht Club kitchen released A malnourished sea lion found in the King Harbor Yacht Club kitchen in January has been returned to the ocean after two months of rehabilitation at San Pedro’s Marine Mammal Care Center. The animal, named “King” for where it was found, was transported to and freed from a crate on the beach in San Pedro March 31. Yacht Club members found the sea lion the night of Jan. 26 after it had crawled up a dock, up a ramp and around the clubhouse’s back patio, and into the kitchen. Meriden City Council to review proposed city grants manager position
MERIDEN — A request to establish a new grants manager position in the city’s finance department received the backing of both the City Council’s personnel and finance committees Monday night. A series of votes supporting that personnel measure were along party lines, with Democrats on both committees backing them and Republican and We the People Party councilors voting against them. The grants manager position, according to a draft job description, would report to the city’s finance director if the position is approved by the council.
